Ever since the concept of Toyota Harrier has been revealed at the Tokyo Auto Show, the fans have been wondering how long they should wait to see its major redesign on the roads. Its arrival hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but a rumor has it that the new Harrier might hit the market as a 2020 Toyota Harrier model soon. It has also been said that besides its regular model, Toyota will release a hybrid version as well.
As we have already mentioned, the details about the 2020 Toyota Harrier have mostly been based on rumors and predictions, but we believe that this mid-size crossovers is going to show some more appealing design language on its upcoming model. Although no revolutionary changes should be expected in terms of look, some visual changes and updates will still be noticed in both front and rear fascia. The first possible change when it comes to new Harrier includes its smaller dimensions. It has been said that this model will appear smaller than for instance, its popular off-road relative RAV4. Be that as it may, we hope that there won’t be any space issues in terms of interior. The hood of the new Harrier should appear a bit aggressive thanks to its powerful grille and large headlamps, but at the same time more refined due to those softer lines. The crossover should stand on 18-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires.
Little has been known of the interior as well, but the 2020 Toyota Harrier should reveal a modern and well-equipped cabin. However, due to its smaller dimensions that we have already mentioned, the passengers, at least those rear seat ones, might have some troubles with space. There is a chance that a new crossover can accommodate four people only, but this hasn’t been confirmed either. The company should use some high-quality materials and improve the overall comfort. Besides that, the driver will probably enjoy some high-tech updates as well, including a smaller information color display and a larger touch-screen in the center console, probably an 8.0-inch one. It will provide features such as navigation, a premium audio system and a dual-zone automatic climate control. Adaptive cruise control, airbags and parking sensors are just some of those safety systems and driver assist features that this crossover will get.
As we have mentioned in the intro, the fans should expect both a regular and a hybrid model. Although still sort of a mystery, the 2020 Harrier might come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that in a hybrid model will be combined with two electric motors. We are still waiting for more official information. When it comes to transmission, the crossover will be paired with either a six-speed automatic or a CVT.
