The legendary SUV is coming back. After more than two decades of hiatus, we are about to see the famous nameplate once again. The new model is in the advanced stage of development and it should hit the market already in the second half of next year. We count on a lot of interesting design solutions, particularly in terms of the styling. On the other side, the mechanical aspect should have a lot of things in common with the next-generation Ranger. This includes the engine lineup as well. The 2021 Ford Bronco will compete with models like Jeep Wrangler and Toyota 4Runner.
- The comeback of the iconic nameplate
- Excellent off-road capabilities
- Attractive and distinctive styling
- Two body styles in the offer
- Too early to talk about weak points
In terms of base design characteristics, the first thing we should mention is that this will be a genuine body-on-frame SUV. It will share the platform with the next-generation Ranger, which in practice means an updated version of the current T6 architecture.
Count on excellent off-road performances, as the 2021 Ford Bronco is expected to be a direct rival to Jeep Wrangler. The styling will definitely be one of the Bronco’s biggest trump cards. We count on a pretty distinctive aesthetics, which won’t have too many things in common with the rest of Ford’s lineup. Also, the rendering photos clearly show that the new model will have a pretty boxy shape.
On the inside, we count on a modern approach, though it seems way too early to talk about details. Most reports suggest we are about to see two versions, with two and four doors.
Also, the same reports suggest removable doors and roof. All this clearly indicates that the Blue Oval company is working on a model that will directly compete with Jeep Wrangler. More details about the interior design should come soon.
2021 Ford Bronco Engine
When it comes to the powertrain, we are sure about one engine at the moment. Of course, we are talking about a familiar turbo-four, which powers the current Ford Ranger. It is a familiar 2.3-liter engine, which is good for about 270 horsepower, which seems like a proper amount of power for an SUV like this.
Still, we count on some high-performance versions as well, with more power and a bigger engine. A bigger 2.7-liter V6 seems like a natural choice, with a max output of 325 horsepower. Finally, we could also see a diesel version, with the new version of familiar 3.0-liter V6 with around 250 horsepower.
2021 Ford Bronco Release Date and Price
According to the latest reports, the 2021 Ford Bronco is about to arrive in the second half of 2020. We presume that base models will go around $30,000 dollars.
