The last redesign of this mid-size crossover has brought a lot of important changes. The Touareg is now a much more luxurious vehicle. Experts would say on par with the Q7 and Cayenne. After a couple of years of production, it is time for interesting novelties and one that we are eagerly waiting to see is electrification. The 2021 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid should be one of the biggest novelties for the next year when it comes to this model. It will feature a plug-in hybrid system, which promises a great balance between performances and efficiency. Other than that, things should remain pretty much the same.
- Powerful and efficient powertrain
- Refined and composed handling
- Luxurious cabin
- Plenty of legroom and generous cargo space
- Luxurious but still with a mainstream badge
- Will probably be expensive
2021 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid Powertrain
The biggest novelty for the next year will be a plug-in hybrid version of this crossover. The 2021 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid is expected to come with a familiar system, which is based on a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine.
The engine comes in pair with an electric motor, making a total output of 362 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Such a version of Touareg is already available in China and now will be offered in other parts of the world as well. On the other side, the rest of the lineup is about to remain the same.
In terms of base design characteristics, we don’t expect to see any exclusive features in this particular version. Except for the powertrain, the 2021 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid should feature pretty much the same mechanics as the rest of the lineup. The styling should remain pretty much the same as well.
On the other side, we count on a couple of exclusive details, particularly in terms of exclusive color options and wheels. Other than that, you may count on a familiar design, which is based on the premium MLB platform, the same one that is used for models like Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus.
In terms of interior design, this crossover is all about luxury. The new generation definitely belongs to the premium segment in all aspects. The overall interior quality is impressive, especially if you look at the dashboard.
Lots of premium-grade materials and an impressive amount of tech features, including the excellent 12.3-inch digital cluster, if what you can find in this crossover. In terms of the space, you may count on three generous rows of seats, as well as on a quite generous cargo volume.
2021 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid Release Date and Price
Details are still unavailable, but we presume that the new model will hit the market a little bit earlier, probably in the third quarter of 2020. The exact price should be announced in the next couple of months.
